Friends of Aldingbourne, Barnham & Eastergate churches

For many of us the church is at the heart of our village, whether we go to church regularly, occasionally, or just simply enjoy the beauty and history of these old builds.  Visitors come each week and often follow up family ties in the area.  Preserving our three medieval churches for future generations is central to our work.

Contrary to popular belief our three churches receives no help from central Church of England funds.  The demands of maintaining such old buildings, and the cost of doing so, may now exceed the money raised by Parish events and donations from the congregation.

The Friends of ABE Churches is an independent charity for the sole purpose of supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the church buildings and fixtures.

Recent projects have been, new lighting at St Mary's, Aldingbourne and a CCTV and alarm system for St Mary's Barnham (following a number of break-ins).

What will the Friends do?

Raise funds to be used to maintain the church buildings and its grounds, and make any necessary improvements. We will also run some community events; as a thank you, all Friends will automatically be invited free of charge.
